The New York Fed's supervisory activities are designed to ensure a safe and sound banking system. The New York Fed conducts onsite and offsite examinations of banks in New York, New Jersey, and Fairfield County in Connecticut. It also examines U.S. bank holding companies, state-chartered banks and the U.S. operations of foreign banks.
Like the other Federal Reserve banks, the New York Fed is responsible for enforcing laws and establishing rules to protect banking customers in its region. Finally, the Fed ensures that banks in each district observe community reinvestment laws and try to meet the credit needs of their communities.

We will work with you to develop a personal financial assessment by analyzing your income, expenses, assets and liabilities. You can choose to work directly with a counselor in person (within select markets), by telephone or online. As a team, you and your counselor will work together to create a livable spending plan and establish an action plan for becoming debt free and achieving your financial goals.

The Yerwood Center is a community resource center providing educational and personal development opportunities to Stamford’s diverse community. The Yerwood Center was founded in 1943 as the Stamford Negro Community Center by Dr. Joyce Yerwood, the first African American female Doctor in the State of Connecticut. In 1950 it became the West Main Street Community Center, and in 1975 the name was changed to the Yerwood Center, in honor of Dr. Joyce Yerwood’s many years of unwavering support and dedication to the community. In 2008 the Yerwood Center celebrates 65 years of service to Stamford and the West Side community. The Center continues to focus primarily on the low-income population residing on Stamford’s West Side where the ethnic representation is 55% Black, 36% Hispanic, 7% White and 2% other.
Career Resources is a well-established non-profit workforce development organization that has achieved national recognition for preparing youth and adults in Southwestern Connecticut to gain employment and progress in their careers. Career Resources provides them with skills, resources, and support necessary for personal development, economic self-sufficiency, and career advancement, and also provides planning and staffing resources to the business community in support of workforce development.
Southwestern CT Works
The CTWorks Career Centers of Southwestern Connecticut provide services to unemployed and underemployed individuals seeking jobs and job search assistance at no cost. Job seekers are afforded convenient access to the employment, education, training and information they need at a single location.EVERYONE and ANYONE is welcome and encouraged to visit CTWorks Career Centers and use the reference materials such as newspapers, journals and job posting board. Posted positions include all levels and salary ranges from entry-level to upper-level management.
